ACLP Program: For Providers
Alaska’s Cleft Lip and Palate Program replaces the state-sponsored Cleft Lip and Palate clinics. The State of Alaska requested Southcentral Foundation take over the clinic, and in doing so, we will maintain the same doctors and practitioners who have served the program for the last 20 years. In addition, however, SCF has provided funding for additional resources to strengthen the clinic, including behavioral health services, RN level care coordination, and a deep resource of administrative and quality support staff. As in years past, we will continue to partner with and refer to major centers in the lower 48 in severe and syndromic cases, always seeking to provide customers with the best care available.
SCF will increase the frequency of multidisciplinary cleft clinics to at least 6 a year. We have also expanded the time allotted to customer evaluation. While some customers will continue be seen in half-day clinics, we have also expanded offerings to include more comprehensive evaluations and treatments that will stretch over two days time. Audiologists, ENT providers, plastic surgeons, oral surgeons, SLPs, behavioral health consultants, nutritionists, pediatricians, orthodontists, and pediatric dentists will also evaluate each case at these extended clinics, allowing for a comprehensive treatment plan. Serving both the Alaska Native and non-Native population in Alaska, SCF is proud to be a part of the Alaska’s Cleft Lip and Palate Program.
The clinic welcomes referrals of all Alaskan children with cleft lip and palate. SCF now offers visits to mothers given a prenatal diagnosis. Referrals and inquiries can be directed to our program coordinator by using the numbers on the contact box . Customers are usually scheduled to be seen in one of the bimonthly group cleft clinic evaluations, but if evaluation is needed earlier, please discuss this with our coordinator at the time of referral.
