Shared Governance Model / Nursing Leadership Model

Through our Nursing Leadership Model we establish leadership principles that empower staff at the point of care level. The principles provide the foundation of leadership for staff to develop effective decision making skills increasing autonomy, accountability & professional involvement. The concept of shared decision making allows point of care nurses to become involved. This sharing of accountability & authority levels the playing field and contributes directly to the level of our success for leadership development and staff involvement in multiple initiatives.

President of the Nursing Staff (PNS)

As the elected voice of nursing and part of the shared governance structure, the PNS makes a significant contribution to spreading innovation and supporting the mentoring of staff that accepts leadership roles by ensuring that they have the tools they need to affect change and engaging them in the processes established.
